
CIS requires all officers assigned to uniformed security operations to complete an intensive screening and training process. The goal of this process is to determine if CIS is the right company to meet your professional needs and ensure that all CIS officers are capable of fulfilling the requirements of their assignments.
The CIS screening process begins here on the Internet. Before coming in to apply for a position, we recommend that you first complete the pre-application submission form located on this web site. This will expedite the application process as it allows our human resources personnel to determine what your level of qualifications are before you physically come in to our office.
After our human resources department evaluates your request, you will be contacted to schedule a time for an interview. When you first arrive for your interview, you will be asked to complete a formal application while waiting. Completing this application usually requires about an hour, as the application is very detail oriented. Be sure to bring your valid drivers license, social security card, "D" and "G" licenses, any documentation regarding Florida Law Enforcement certification, and if you are prior military, your DD214 Member 4.
NOTE: You will not be allowed to remove the application to complete at home or another location. The application must be completed at our office.
Once the application is complete, our human resources administrator and/or command staff will review your qualifications and initiate your background check. If selected for an interview, we will answer any questions you might have about CIS. Once your interview is over, and you successfully complete application, you will be asked to wait until your background check is competed before proceeding with the hiring process. This may take between two to three days.
Once your background check is complete, you will be contacted and a date for testing and a final interview will be scheduled. CIS requires all new officers to complete a series of tests to determine their suitability for certain types of assignments. These tests are conducted at our office and require about one to two hours to complete. After the tests are completed, you will be interviewed by our Vice President of Uniformed Operations and final decision will be made about your application. If you are hired, you will be asked to complete a new employee packet and a date for orientation training will be scheduled. If you do not possess a "D" or "G" license, you will be scheduled to complete the training at the S2 Safety & Intelligence Institute.
NOTE: If the background check was inconclusive, you will be asked to come in for an oral board interview. If the results are of the oral board are favorable, you may be able to complete the testing and new employee packet the same day.
CIS Protection Officers are required to attend a one, paid, day of orientation and training session. On this day you will attend a series of briefings on CIS policies, our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and you will be introduced to the CIS operations center. After orientation, you will be assigned to an experienced Field Training Officer (FTO). Over the course of three days, the FTO will indoctrinate you in our methods of operation while on assignment in the field. Take advantage of this opportunity and learn as much as you can from your FTO--our FTOs are specially selected for their experience and ability to apply our methods in the field.
Once your field training is completed and your FTO provides a favorable evaluation, you will be assigned independently as a CIS protection officer.
The last part of your initial training is the SOP test. Within 30 to 90 days of hire, you will be required to successfully complete a test to document your knowledge of CIS policies and operational procedures.
The training process doesn't end once you are assigned. CIS will require that additional training is completed as you proceed in your career as a CIS officer. Some of this training is mandatory, other types of training are optional. However, it is recommended that you take every advantage of our training opportunities as a way of developing professionally and increasing your eligibility for promotion and special assignments.
