Rest Well, Our Friend

On July 1, 2004, we laid our brother to rest. The service was held at Our Lady of Lourdes in Dunedin, Florida. After arriving by CIS honor guard escort, the service was started, officiated by CIS Chaplain Mike Middlebrooks. Several of Chris's friends and of course, Angela his fiancee, spoke about Chris. After the prayers and eulogy, a slide presentation of photos created by Chris's friends reflecting Chris's life was presented, followed by the "Last Radio Call" as Chris's call sign, RAVEN 18, was permamently retired. The service was concluded by the playing of bagpipes as the honor guard escorted Chris out of the church and to Bay Pines National Cemetary.

At Bay Pines Cemetary, family, friends, and colleagues paid final tribute to Chris. Reverend Middlebrooks read his special prayer for Chris, followed by a procession of CIS Raven units who placed black feathers on Chris's coffin and uniformed officers who laid black bands. The service was concluded with taps as the US Navy honor guard folded and presented Angela with Chris's flag.

It was a very dark day for all.

Prayer for Chris

Our heavenly Father, thank you for your love. Thank you for the love of your warriors, as you loved King David. Father we know you are surrounded by an army of angels, so Father we commend the soul of your warrior, Christopher Edward Neidrich. Father give him angel wings and his holy sword and shield and give him a post of honor guarding the holy gates of heaven. Amen.

Rev. Mike Middlebrooks
