CIS Partners with Shorecrest Prep to Provide Armed Security to the St. Petersburg-Based School
Submitted by: Senior Master Sergeant Mahmoud "Moody" Abdelmohty, Supervisor of the School Protection Officer Division

With the rise of school shootings and in the wake of the event at Sandy Hook, Headmaster Michael Murphy of Shorecrest Preparatory School sought to revise his campus's crisis management plan. Mr. Murphy turned to CIS to review and assess vulnerabilities at his school. Shorecrest is one of Florida's oldest private schools, with a very unique community. Shorecrest excels in the academic arena and propels students from pre-kindergarten all the way through high school. Many of the high school students attending Shorecrest have been here since they were in elementary. The campus culture promotes competitive academic achievement, extra curricular involvement and community outreach. However, despite the schools highly disciplined and advanced educational culture, safety and security are among the biggest priorities for parents and faculty members.

CIS In the News: Shorecrest Prep Adds Armed Guards, Beefs Up Other Security
Keeping with its longstanding tradition of being at the forefront of private security addressing public safety needs, CIS recently went live with its first School Protection Officer program. Tampa Bay Times Staff Writer Lisa Gartner took notice of this novel idea and reached out to CIS President and CEO KC Poulin and Shorecrest Prep Headmaster Michael Murphy to discuss the new program. Gartner wrote an article that ran in the Saturday, October 5th, edition of the Tampa Bay Times and is posted on tampabay.com (visit link below).

Not Your Average Camera Monitoring Services
CIS has expanded the range of services to include full service camera monitoring, which we now provide throughout the state of Florida!  We optimize this service by combining the use of state-of-the-art 24 hour Operations Center with unique, two-way communications technology and the expertise of our highly trained, licensed CIS Protection Officers.  CIS Camera Monitoring Officers stand constant watch over your property and immediately contact law enforcement or CIS officers in the field when suspicious or unwanted activity occurs.  Not only can our officers see what is taking place on your property, they can actually verbally communicate with individuals of interest via our two-way communications feature.  This technology results in much more than the ability to record an event, it creates the crucial opportunity for preventative interaction offering yet another layer of protection that can significantly help reduce unwanted activity and mitigate your liability.  For more information, please contact Jeff Ezell, VP of Operations, at jeff.ezell@kkpsecuritygroup.com or (407) 408-6431
