Managing Holiday Season Liabilities
Submitted by: Mark E. Puetz, Director of Risk Management and Professional Standards

The holiday season is upon us. Along with all of the wonderful family time this brings, it also presents additional opportunities for criminals. The news was covered with stories warning us and giving advice about how to keep ourselves safe while shopping. We saw pieces telling us to be sure we let someone know where we are, to park as close to the mall entrances as we could, to store any gifts we bought in our trunks or to cover them if we had to leave them in our vehicles, and so on. Retail business owners read more articles in their trade magazines about how to spot shoplifters and scams, particularly return and gift card scams for the days after the holidays. We have seen this every year, as though we have forgotten over the past 12 months or so. What we have not always seen is articles about how the increased activity of the season, the increases in certain types of activity, may affect the liability exposures of property owners and how best to consider those and plan accordingly.

Making an Impact at Shorecrest Preparatory
Submitted by: Chief Hector Rodriguez, Chief of Protective Services

Recently Officer Heriberto "Eric" Andujar stopped by one of the classrooms at Shorecrest Preparatory (a new property of CIS) to meet some of the children and participate in story time. The children were allowed to "interview" Officer Andujar to help them familiarize themselves with him and his duties on campus. After Officer Andujar left, the children composed a book dedicated to him using the information they obtained during the interview. He is certainly fitting in with the children and faculty, as they all seem very happy to have him as part of the Shorecrest family.
Not Your Average Camera Monitoring Services
CIS has expanded the range of services to include full service camera monitoring, which we now provide throughout the state of Florida!  We optimize this service by combining the use of state-of-the-art 24 hour Operations Center with unique, two-way communications technology and the expertise of our highly trained, licensed CIS Protection Officers.  CIS Camera Monitoring Officers stand constant watch over your property and immediately contact law enforcement or CIS officers in the field when suspicious or unwanted activity occurs.  Not only can our officers see what is taking place on your property, they can actually verbally communicate with individuals of interest via our two-way communications feature.  This technology results in much more than the ability to record an event, it creates the crucial opportunity for preventative interaction offering yet another layer of protection that can significantly help reduce unwanted activity and mitigate your liability.  For more information, please contact Jeff Ezell, VP of Operations, at or (407) 408-6431

CIS TECH is committed to all the products and services we provide. To ensure the continued performance and longevity of your system, we offer a Preventative Maintenance Service to keep your camera system functioning in the manner you would expect for years to come.

HERE IS HOW IT WORKS: Once per quarter, a service technician will arrive and clean all cameras and equipment, reposition each camera that is needed, refocus all cameras that are needed, provide updates and service to your DVR and ensure the system is 100% operable. This service includes all four services trips and covers any and all trip or service charges.

We highly recommend your cameras and equipment be services on a regular basis to ensure your investment stays working for the long term.
