The Critical Difference™

Community and Character Based Protection Initiative™ (CCBPI)

The CIS Community and Character Based Protection Initiative™ (CCBPI) has been recognized throughout the criminal justice and academic communities for its effectiveness in reducing crime and improving quality of life.

The Community and Character Based Protection Initiative™ (CCBPI) is our relationship-focused methodology for cultivating trust and social capitol in community environments. The methodology was originally pioneered during our work with high crime communities and later adapted to all social environments including multi-family communities of all demographics, master planned communities, and workplace environments.

At its most basic level, CCBPI is an intentional and focused process of building relationships within the community and thus engendering trust and communication. Security and/or police officers (specifically selected and trained for this task) initiate and drive the relationship-building process. In some situations, such as the Guardian SafeCommunities Program®, officers are assigned to CCPBI activities as a dedicated mission. In other situations, CCPBI is an integral part of officers’ duties in addition to more conventional aspects of security and law enforcement.

Regardless of the environment and situation, the results of CCBPI are universal:
